Exclusively for PC and Xbox, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, a game that follows the style of the successful Vermintide franchise, There will be no crossplay between PC and Xbox, nor between the Steam and Game Pass versions on PC.
The game, which focuses on up to four players, will be officially released on November 30th (no word yet on the release of the Xbox version), but for those who pre-ordered, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is already available on PC.
“Don’t wait” for crossplay in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide
On the game’s official support page, the developer stated that the game will not feature crossplay or cross-save at launch. “At this time, we cannot comment on when or if crossplay and cross-save will be available,” said a spokesperson for Fatshark, the game’s developer.
In response to a user on the game’s Steam forum, Fatshark said it plans to explore the idea of cross-breeding between Steam and Game Pass on PC, but has no word on when the feature will become available. “We’re not saying it’s impossible, or it’s not being explored, but neither is ‘yes, it’s coming on day one’. We like the idea and are exploring it, but don’t wait for it,” said the developer.
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is a game focused on cooperation, and anyone who wants to take full advantage of what the game has to offer must find friends who are on the same chosen platform. As the title hits Game Pass at launch (and that in itself is already attracting a lot of players), the game already has around 4,000 reviews on Valve’s platform, adding up to a 70% acceptance rate.
Most of the negative comments are about the game’s lack of optimization. Fatshark recently released hardware recommendations for several different graphics configurations. In the system requirements described on the game’s Steam page, the studio recommends GeForce GTX 970/Radeon Rx 570 up to RTX 3060/RTX 2060/RX 5700 XT, which strangely puts two NVIDIA GPUs of different generations on the same level.
For those who want to extract the full graphical potential of the game in 4K with maximum ray tracing in graphics and effects, Fatshark recommends the RTX 4080, a video card that costs more than R$10,000.
