This will be the first event of its kind to promote VR games on Steam
Recently released Steamworks documentation shows plans for Steam’s first virtual reality festival, which will begin later this year from July 18th to 25th. Demos will be available at the event as well as discounts on VR PC games.
The name may have already reminded a few readers of Steam Next Fest, which is an in-store event that releases games and demos for a period of time. This event will be very similar, but with a full focus on PC VR titles.

As the documentation registered on Steamworks is not yet an official release, we still don’t know which games will be available as promotions or which demos will be available. However, we can expect something from the best virtual reality titles. Like Half Life Alyx, Phasmophobia and SUPERHOT por for example. It’s also possible we’ll see an Aong US VR demo as the game launches later this year.
A VR version of Among Us will be released in late 2022 for multiple platforms
The title seems to translate well to 3D first-person scenarios
Valve already has a big presence in this medium of virtual reality gaming, most notably with the release of Half-Life Alyx. By giving this genre of games this prominent place on Steam, it’s possible that the popularity or visibility of these types of games will at least increase.

This generation of consoles comes with a greater investment in games as well as VR hardware. One of the accessories that gained popularity was Meta Quest 2 (which can also be used on PC with Steam games), as well as the still unreleased PlayStation VR 2, which has already received major announcements from games like Horizon: Call of The Mountain.
In short, the Steam Virtual Reality Festival will start on July 18th (Monday) at 14:00 (Brazil time) and will end on July 25th. There will be promotions and virtual reality game demos in the store, but we don’t know what that will be yet.
