Lighting and texture improvements are more noticeable than other changes
CD Projekt Red yesterday revealed the major news that the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will feature, and of course comparisons are already flying around the web. The Cycu1 channel, which usually brings you game comparisons, posted a trailer presented by CDPR that ran Xbox Series X in performance mode, next to a game running at max 4K on a PC with a GeForce RTX 3080.
The most noticeable change is in the lighting of the game. But, we must remember that this is a comparison that cannot accurately reflect the two sides of open world exploration, because The Witcher 3 has a dynamic climate that is cloudy and raining, and then the sky is clear, but it gives us an idea.
But when we look at the scenes side by side, this change is easier to see, since the whole situation is the same on both sides (minus Garalt’s clothes). And the new version has a simple but cool detail at 3:36 of the video, Geralt’s wolf necklace swings in motion.
On the other hand, the new version seems to fall behind the original in some very specific moments, such as 3:47, which shows more details of the Wild Hunt knight in the original PC version. In this situation, it is quite noticeable to see the low quality of the textures in the next generation version, but we are talking about one or two frames, it is worth remembering.
CDPR reveals that it is still working on proofreading the new version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and should reveal the news shortly before that happens today. December 14.
Some news of the new version of The Witcher 3
The free update will bring not only graphical improvements, especially in the console versions, which will also run the game at 60 FPS in performance mode. The version will also feature gameplay changes such as new camera positioning, in addition to the controls and user interface.
The studio integrates several mods from the community, as well as creating its own mods. Photo mode will now be available in the game. Previously, it was only possible to take a photo by manipulating the camera on a computer using the NVIDIA Ansel tool.
Speaking of PC, the new version of The Witcher 3 will have a new graphics mode (Ultra+) that will further increase the quality of the game on the platform that shined the most. To ease the burden of the new graphics on GPUs, the game will support NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR. Both the PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X versions will feature ray tracing effects in quality mode (4K/30 FPS).
