The PC port of Banjo-Kazooie reaches 80% progress

Other titles are already at an advanced stage.

Super Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time are Nintendo 64 games that have already been “ported” to PC by the modding community. Now is the time Banjo-Kazooie, one of the greatest 3D platform classics. Converting the game code to a PC port is almost 80%.

After this step, the game begins to make some adjustments for PCs. While these projects don’t change essential elements like the gameplay, which in most cases is well-dated, those responsible manage to change practically the entire visual part, such as higher resolution, effects and frames per second.

An example of this is what they’ve already managed to do with the PC port of Super Mario 64, in which Mario already has a different model, reworked scenarios, implemented ray tracing, and even created new stages. The same goes for Zelda Ocarina of Time, which was the last game ported to PC.

Over 20 Nintendo 64 titles have already been ported to PC. Check out the list below for games that are already in the process of being decompiled via reverse engineering:

Paper Mario is over 72%, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask is already 60% progress, and Mario Kart 64 has reached 40%. Those three games, plus Banjo-Kazooie, would be the next to have their own ports for PC. In March, Banjo-Kazooie had a project at 55%.

It should be remembered that while Nintendo 64 emulation has worked very well for many years, the PC versions of these games offer new features that were either impossible or difficult to implement during emulation.

More recently, the same work was done with the PlayStation 2 exclusive, Jak and Daxter. Naughty Dog’s game received a PC port with higher resolutions, frames per second and even more graphical options.
