What an exciting moment for PlayStation! Today marks the first regional launch of our new loyalty program, PlayStation Stars. I’m excited to launch this new initiative for our PlayStation community, first launched in Asia, that celebrates the achievements of our players with fun and exciting campaigns, the opportunity to earn points and digital collectibles.

With this release, we’re kicking off the global rollout of the PlayStation Stars program, and it’s just the beginning. We’ll continue to develop the program by adding new features, rewards, benefits and ways to enjoy what you love about PlayStation.

Let’s take a look at some key details of the program.

When will the PlayStation Stars program start?

Check out the PlayStation Stars program release dates below:

  • Asia, including Japan: September 29 (local time)
  • North America and South America, including Brazil: October 5 (local time)
  • Europe and Australia: October 13 (local time)

What do I need to participate in the PlayStation Stars program? Need a PlayStation Plus subscription?

Participation in the PlayStation Stars program is free. All you need is an adult PlayStation Network account and agree to the program’s terms of service. While you receive certain benefits as a PlayStation Plus member, PlayStation Plus membership is not required to participate in the PlayStation Stars program.

How do I access the PlayStation Stars program?

The full PlayStation Stars experience is available through the PlayStation app on iOS and Android. You can also join the PlayStation Stars program at

We have plans to expand to consoles in the future.

How does the program work?

With the PlayStation Stars program, you will receive rewards for completing various campaigns and activities. You only need to play any game to earn rewards in the “Monthly Login” campaign. Other campaigns require you to earn specific trophies or even be one of the first players to earn a platinum trophy from a successful title in your country/region. One of our first campaigns is called “Press play/1994”, where members who correctly start games that match clues inspired by the song receive a special collection.

Campaigns are updated regularly, so check the PlayStation app for new campaigns.

What rewards can I get?

There are two types of rewards: loyalty points and digital collectibles. Points can be redeemed for a catalog that may include PSN Wallet funds, exclusive digital collectibles, and select PlayStation Store products. As an added benefit, PlayStation Plus members enrolled in the PlayStation Stars program automatically earn points for PlayStation Store purchases.*

Digital Collections are beautifully rendered, digital representations of what PlayStation fans love, including figurines of beloved and iconic characters from games and other forms of entertainment, as well as beloved devices that tap into Sony’s history of innovation. There will always be new collectibles to earn, super rare collectibles, or something awesome to collect just for fun.

Digital collectibles you receive or purchase may be placed in a virtual storefront within the PlayStation app. You can also set up a virtual storefront for others to see if you want.

At launch, just by participating, all members will receive a Star Gazer telescope. We’ll have Punto, the Gondolier from Ape Escape 2, PocketStation, Toro and Kuro celebrating and more as the first digital collectible for members to receive or purchase.

Is digital collecting unique? Can I sell or trade my digital collectibles?

These digital collections are created exclusively for our loyalty program and although some may be rare, they are not unique and do not use blockchain technology. They cannot be sold or exchanged. Digital collectibles can only be earned or purchased through the PlayStation Stars program.

How do I find out how rare a digital collectible is?

The rarity of digital collectibles can be found on the campaign information screen and on the collectibles information page.

How do I track and use my points?

You can view your points balance in the PlayStation app under the PlayStation Stars program player profile/point history. Points can be used to redeem items in your Rewards Catalog, which may include digital collectibles, games or PSN Wallet balance.

To redeem your points, go to PlayStation App > Player Profile > PlayStation Stars > Rewards Catalog.

How do I benefit from being a PlayStation Plus member if I participate in the PlayStation Stars program?

PlayStation Plus membership is not required to participate in PlayStation Stars. However, as a PlayStation Plus member, if you participate in PlayStation Stars, you can earn points for PlayStation Store purchases, including every payment you make for your PlayStation Plus membership. Please note that PSN Wallet top-ups are not eligible to earn points for the PlayStation Stars program.

What are the status levels?

The PlayStation Stars program will have four status levels that reflect the milestones you will achieve. They are based on the number of Rare Trophies earned per game, as well as full game purchases from the PlayStation Store. The higher your level, the more privileges and benefits you can get.

How long will I stay at my status level?

Once you reach a status level, you stay there for a full year plus an additional 13 months. For example, if you achieved status on October 2, your status level 2 will be valid for the entire year and will continue for the next 13 months, from January 1 of the following year to January 31 of the following year.
