Is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022) worth it? Analysis – Review

The Modern Warfare series of Call of Duty is certainly the most iconic in the franchise, along with Black Ops, and with the arrival of Modern Warfare 2 after rebooting the series, we wonder if this is a new step in that new direction. The subseries is worth it or not.

In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, we see the continuation of the story of the characters of the series, such as General Shepherd, Soap and Ghost. After a missile attack that kills the terrorist general Ghorbani, Hassan Zani, his second-in-command takes over an Iranian terrorist organization and executes a plan where several American missile launchers disappear and are ready to be fired into American territory. .

Now you have to race against time around the world to find where these launchers are, as well as capture Hassan to end his career as a terrorist once and for all.

The campaign of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is divided into stages, first you try to capture Hassan, and then you learn about the launchers, follow him and try to neutralize this terrorist threat.

As with the Modern Warfare reboot, what we see here is a series of highly varied missions on multiple fronts simultaneously or sequentially across the globe. There is a classic mission where you control a satellite and have to shoot enemies from above, there are sniper missions, a mission where you have to run like crazy after Hassan, another where you are in the water and have to sneak into a shipyard and so on.

If there’s one thing that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 does very well, it’s offer a great variety of missions for the player. Another very positive point of the campaign is to be able to create a sense of urgency like, “I have to race against time before the world explodes, I have to prevent that from happening.”

All in all, Modern Warfare 2’s campaign takes around 6-8 hours to complete, depending on the difficulty of the game and the number of problems you encounter as you progress through the levels. Most of them are very easy to advance, and I had the most trouble with the missions where you control the satellite because they keep trying to shoot it down part way through the level, and also the mission where you control the gas as a sniper because most of the enemies are wearing heavy armor and you can only shoot them down You can attack.

But even in the missions where I encountered these issues, the game experience itself was quite fun. Also worth noting about the campaign is that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is quite different from Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox 360 and PS3. Even in the campaigns there are some similarities, but it does not have any missions like the iconic No Russian, we also do not go to Brazil in the game, but to Mexico and practically everything that happened in the seventh generation. The console campaign does not take place here. There are similar events, but with very significant changes and some references to the events of the classic game’s campaign.

Overall, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 campaign, which was the content we had access to for this review, is a lot of fun and will certainly please fans who are still playing this installment of the series. The performances are very well done and the focus is on the cast of Soap, Ghost, Laswell and Shepherd, played by Glenn Morshower, one of the most important supporting characters in 24 Hours.

Graphically, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a beautiful game with no performance issues. The graphics of the game looked really great on the Xbox Series X and the console performance is actually quite good as even when you die there are almost no loading screens and they are practically non-existent during any mission.

The soundtrack of the game is also good and the voice acting of the game is excellent and as usual in the Call of Duty series for a long time, the game also supports our language.

But so, is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 worth it?

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a worthy sequel to the 2019 reboot. The game’s campaign is very fun and full of tension, and of course everyone will be very interested to finish it when the next chapter starts. The chapter is more than recommended for Call of Duty fans.

Review prepared with a publisher-provided copy of the game for Xbox Series X.
