Unlike the game that already exists, Rogue Mage will not be free-to-play and will be PvE
If you enjoyed Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, a free-to-play PvP multiplayer game based on the world of Geralt, know that there is more to come starting tomorrow. CD Projekt Red has announced its new card game, Gwent: Rogue Mage, which will be an expansion of the previous game, but will be released as a standalone. The title will be released tomorrow (07) for PC, Android and iOS.
The game will have a cheaper base version and a premium edition with skins, cosmetic items and more cards for those who pay the most. It was unclear which platform the game will be released on PC. According to IGN, which revealed the game exclusively, the basic edition will cost $9.99 and the premium edition will cost $19.99.
“Rogue Mage came about when we realized that years after the release of The Witcher 3, there is a significant number of players who want a more PvE Gwent experience,” said game director Vladimir Tortsov.
Gwent: Rogue Mage is like The Witcher 3 mini-game
“While Gwent Multiplayer is a fantastic game for those looking for a great multiplayer PvP experience, we fully understand that many Witcher players loved the original Gwent minigame for completely different reasons. With Rogue Mage, we aim to deliver that to the audience. A reason to play modern Gwent in the format they prefer.”
CD Projekt RED promises next-gen versions of The Witcher 3 by the end of 2022

According to IGN, who tested the game before release, CDPR really wants to deliver a mini-game-like experience featured in The Witcher 3 played in single player. Although a different title, Gwent: Rogue Mage uses the game’s free multiplayer cards, but with different mechanics.
Tortsov says that this game will not add anything to the story of The Witcher. “While we have a story to tell about Alzur’s obsession with creating the first witch, we don’t see this expansion as an official addition to The Witcher lore,” explains the director.
This story, which won’t be canon, takes place a hundred years before the birth of Geraldo (Geralt, anyway) and shows Alzur trying to create the first wizard.
Gwent: Rogue Mage arrives tomorrow, but as mentioned earlier, on PC it’s still impossible to find the game on Steam, and it’s not yet listed on the Android and iOS stores, at least not in our region.
