Elon Musk hired a PS3 hacker to save Twitter

George “Geohot” Hotz, a well-known hacker known for jailbreaking the iPhone and PlayStation 3, has been hired by Elon Musk to do the temporary job. The specialist will have 12 weeks to solve the problem in Twitter’s search engine and will take over the employees who have been laid off en masse.

Hotz himself broke the news and revealed more details about the controversial partnership. That’s because in 2015, Musk had already offered him the opportunity to work for Tesla in a multimillion-dollar contract, only to eventually see his request rescinded — sparking a public backlash.

After being repeatedly sued by Sony for PS3 security breaches and settling disputes with the manufacturer out of court, Hotz began his career as a CEO. Comma AI, a driver assistance technology company that acted as a competitor to Tesla. Due to disagreements, he left the company in October of this year.

Hotz joined Twitter last weekend and is apparently on friendly terms with Elon Musk.
