EA confirms the break-up and reveals the name of the new football game

The days of the FIFA franchise are numbered. EA Sports, the game developer, announced this afternoon that the game will be renamed EA Sports FC from July 2023 – which confirms the break with the maximum football subject.

Fifa 23, due out in late September / early October, will be the last game in franchise history to bear the name of the organization.

EA emphasized that all modes in FIFA will also be available in EA Sports FC, such as Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Pro Clubs and Volta.

Exclusive contracts will also follow with the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, MLS, UEFA, Conmebol and Nike.

With these contracts, EA understands that having a FIFA brand is no longer necessary for the game to have an official football simulator ring – its main competitor in the segment is eFootball, the former PES (Pro Evolution Soccer) that has been renamed. In 2021 by Konami.

In October 2021, reviewer Marcel Rizzo, from UOL EsporteIt is reported that EA has terminated its multimillion-dollar license agreement with FIFA, which expires this year.

According to New York Times journalist Tariq Panja, EA pays FIFA more than $ 100 million annually, which would be the International Federation’s main commercial revenue today. The economic crisis caused by the pandemic opens EA’s willingness to save this amount, which will be a blow to the accounts of the entity that runs football.
